This talk will focus on one dad’s mission to use technology to adapt the world for his daughter’s extra needs as well as other people like her.

With the proliferation of sensing technology, the IOT, the connected home, and advancements in rapid prototyping, unique challenges are being solved every day to make our worlds safer, more efficient and fun. For people with extra needs, advancements in sensing and technology in general are providing independence and inclusion, but these advancements do not always hit the mark. We will explore some of the great technological advancements that are helping to adapt the world to people with extra needs as well as some areas that have been left behind and still need work.

At the end of the talk a short film will be presented outlining his family’s story and how the BecDot was born from a passion and desire to ensure that Rebecca had access to all forms of language at a young age.
